Budgies
Does anyone know what I should feed my budgies as all I have is seeds right now so please anyone tell me I would appreciate it so much

Here’s my budgies’ daily diet! They have two established mealtimes per day, but I give them a little more than they can finish in one sitting so they don’t go hungry in between meals. Here’s their routine:

Morning (7-8 AM): Chop, often with sprouts, pellets, and/or eggs

Afternoon (4-5 AM): Chop mixed with pellets and seeds

I personally feed Harrison’s pellets. I know they’re controversial because of “filler” ingredients, but I personally don’t view that as a problem. I also recommend Roudybush and Tops pellets, but I’ve found that budgies are reluctant to try them.

They also get a high-quality seed mix. Seeds shouldn’t be overfed because of their high fat content, but they are part of a budgie’s natural diet and should be fed in moderation (IMO).

Their chop recipe varies from time to time, but some of their favorite fresh foods include peppers, bok choy, spinach, carrots, apples, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, sprouts, etc. There are a ton of vegetable options for birds, so I’d recommend experimenting to find out what yours likes best :)

Budgies can also benefit from eating eggs, nuts, sprouts, herbs, and fruit in smaller amounts. Sprouts are a good option for birds that are picky about veggies.

Do NOT feed avocado, rhubarb, tomatoes, onions, or any other toxic food.

Good luck, and happy parronting!

My budgies (all 19 of them) live a gifted life. My husband and I are devoted to their health and well being. Once a month I cook a large batch of "chop" for them and freeze it in small zip lock bags. One bag lasts about two days. The base of the chop is Bird Street Bistro Hearty Vegetables and I added finely chopped broccoli, red bell pepper, a small bag of dried bird greens, canned or frozen corn, orzo pasta, quinoa, brown rice, and whatever other grains and veggies I may have in the fridge. They get chop every morning and I toss the leftover at about 2pm. This is the bulk of their diet. In addition, all day long they get a seed mix (white millet. Red millet, and oats groat) and a super mix of chopped sunflower meats, hemp hearts, hulled millet flax seed, chia seed, and oats groats. I buy the ingredients on Amazon and mix it myself. Each cage gets a large leaf of romaine lettuce every day. When available they get a piece of fresh corn on the cob, homegrown brocolli leaves, carrot tops or other green matter. I rarely feed them millet spray because it's too messy and although they like it, they don't go crazy for it. Frankly, my budgies will eat almost anything we eat if we let them.

Diet is important but so is exercise. My budgies get a lot of exercise which is essential for their health, fitness and emotional well being. 11 of my flock members live in three large cages but are free to fly around my great room from about 8am until about 9pm. Five of them are like velcro- we are flock members and walking perches! They personally greet us when we walk into the room and hang out with us. The other six are hand tame but not as clingy.
8 more budgies live in two large flight cages, four girls in one and four boys in the other to prevent breeding. Those birds are like flying rabbits and if I let them have their way my house would be overrun with budgies beause I can't bring myself to rehome any of them. I don't let this group fly around my house because they are not hand tame and I would never get them back in their cages.
I hope this helps. The diet and lifestyle applies regardless of the number of budgies you have.
