2 Quaker parrots
Hey, so my female Quaker Parrot named Quasar has been doing brown poops since I got home a few hours ago. So far she has done two abnormal poops, the first one was a large, brown solid and the second was smaller brown poop but had a lot of clear liquid around it.

I've not changed her diet (they mostly have Harrison's pellets and some seed, so their normal poops have green tint to them), and Apollo my other Quaker hasn't been doing any brown poops as far as I can tell. Only thing she has eaten that's different was having a bit of walnut as a treat yesterday. She is acting normal (eating, drinking, preening, flying about ect.), only other difference is that her feathers look a bit "tatty" but I think that's down to her not wanting to have a bath and that she's sneezing a bit too. I'm not sure if the sneezing and feathers have anything to do with the poop, but I'm just adding it in case. Is it possible that she has been eating more of the pellets and that's why her poop is brown?

I'm keeping an eye on her, if she keeps having brown poops tomorrow I'll see when an avian vet can give her a check up. Any advice in the meantime is appreciated.

The Queen of Paranoia (that would be me) strikes again! That's enough to worry me to go see my avian vet! Better safe than heartbroken. Good for you for being vigilant!

I'd ditto a vet visit. Perhaps give them a call first and ask their advice, it can't hurt

Enzo does that occasionally but she has a wide variety of treats, are you sure its not something she has eaten?

Hey all, called the avian vet and she basically refused to see Quasar, she said that brown poop isn't serious as it happens because of a change in diet and to call if her behavior changes. I'm just frustrated right now, since if her behavior changes it's normally too late since parrots hide signs of illness and also that I told the vet that I haven't changed her diet.

Luckily Quasar has done some green-ish poops today (the normal colour), but has still passed some brown ones. Still keeping my eye on her

Only thing she had different from normal was having a bit of walnut. Only thing I could think of is if she has chosen to eat more of her pellet food and ignored the seed. Luckily Quasar has passed some green-ish poops (the normal colour for my little guys) today along with some more brown ones. Just hoping it's a passing thing.

My guys sometimes have brown poops. I feed them a mix of different pellets and veggies/fruit. Sometimes the pellet colors mix together and make brown. No big deal usually but if she starts to act weird then I would have her looked at.

I know my birds have brown poop when eating birdy bread.

IF your birds diet has not changed could it be related to the amount of water it is drinking?
