So, normally Mr. Kiwi's morning routine is I half uncover his cage, get him his breakfast and let him eat before I fully uncover and let him out for the day. This morning I was in somewhat of a rush because I had an 8am appointment for my car, and then discovered the last banana was kind of mushy and gross because it's been a week since I went to the store (so, no fruit for Kiwi this AM). After getting him all excited about peanut butter and broccoli instead (2 of his favorite foods), I forgot to close the dish door:11:
I come back, and guess who simply couldn't wait for his favorite meal to arrive. I noticed when i got back from the car place, very little of the beans and grains had been touched, but the broccoli was mutilated (he eats the tops but not the stem) and he'd licked every last particle of the smear of peanut butter off. Didn't think to photo the "carnage" before I tossed it, but here's my escapee:
