I want my baby to be as less stressed as possible when he comes home.He should come home tomorrow or this weekend.(depending when I can pick him up):grey:
I figure I'll give him a good 2-3days to acclimate to his new surroundings and I won't try to handle him or teach him in these days while he adjusts...is this a good idea? I do however want to open his cage and let him explore his new place while I'm home and watching him. He doesn't know any commands as he is only 15weeks.

Also I ordered different style perches and some treats from ebay. Only 1 type of perch is in the cage now(wooden) Can that serve him for 1-3days while I wait for the others to arrive in the mail? I was also curious how many toys I should put in the cage. I don't want to over stimulate or under stimulate him!
How also should I introduce my dogs and cat to him? Should I leave the cage locked and let the dogs sniff at him...or should I let him out of the cage(there is a playtop on the cage) and let him be around the dogs while I monitor him and the dogs? The cat will be terrified of him I just know it...my poor kitty is afraid of everything including grass.(and the bird is going to be bigger than her!)

Any other advice for the first few weeks will be helpful!

Congrats on the new Fid.... Post some pictures when you get him.
have you picked out a name?

One perch is ok just for very short time. You want him to be able to explore his new home. I would just put a couple of toys in the cage at first. You can open the door and sit next to him and talk to him and offer a treat by the door.
just be patient and keep us updated.

Congrats too you. I just brought home my baby lastnight, 7month old Alexandrine. I have 3 different types perches and 3 diff toys and I as well am giving him a few days to settle in.

Congrats!!!! If he is a handled baby, you should be able to hold him on day 1. Letting him get used to the new surrounding first is good. I personally believe training should start right away. I personally start training after just a few hours after they've been home. But people have different ideas and methods. Its what you feel the most comfortable with. Good luck!
