I live in Tasmania and have been breeding Princess and Superb parrots for 15 years with no problem. My question is I have two pair of Regent parrots and for the last three years when I fix the nest boxes in the hen dives straight, but she will sit on the inside of the box and will only come out to feed and relieve her self. The male bird sits just outside the nestbox, I never see them mating and if eggs are layed they are always infertile. I use the same deep nest boxes for all my parrots. The new breeding season is about to start so I would like some help, I have tried changing the pairs over with just the same the result.

Try blocking the entrance to the nestbox but leave it up. This has helped me with fertility issues in the past by encouraging the female to actually mate unread of going straight into laying.
