Hi all, new to this site.
I have a pair of princess parrots. Wanting them to breed, so far they have done all that is expected of them to do. The male dances, then she begs. Shes been begging for nearly two weeks now constantly, its all she does she is also going in and out of the nesting boxes. The male however doesnt seem to interested with her and attacks her if she comes near. But if we are to go in the cage the male becomes fascinated with your hand and starts trying to mate with it.
I wont let him near my hand as I'm worried this will affect the breeding process and he wont mate with the female.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I should or should not be doing to help the breeding process.
The male is quite tame, always has been since we got him. Will follow me around, sit on my shoulder, talk etc. but he lives in the avairy outside and I go see him maybe once a week or so to play with him. Ive had the female for nearly two years now, she was pretty young when I got her but not tame. Im thinking it might be something to do with him being tame, but they are inseparable ever since I introduced them. Its only around breeding season he seems to get really grumpy!
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.
