Hi I recently purchased 2 peachfaces. I got them home and gave them a nest box. One started nesting. But they started fighting so I separated them. But now ive noticed there is an egg in the box. Do u think I have 2 females or r they rough with each other when they breed.:green1:

I literally just breed peach faces and have 2 little babies. I'm no expert but can explain how things happened for me:

When I got my pair I didn't even know if they were male or female but when one started nesting and the other one didn't even know how to I got an inclination they were male and female. As the female started building the nest she got very territorial and very nippy to the male. Until things were prepared and only when she was ready did I see them mating. The rest is history.

Does the aggression draw blood? If not, I would, from my experience, say it's breeding behaviour

Hi thanks for ur advice. When they were fightingthey did end up with little sores. Bit nothing major. Do u still think its breeding behavior. Thanks. Redske

Sounds a bit too aggressive to me. My birds never left an marks on each other.

Maybe they need more time separated but still in view of each other
