Hi everyone,
I'm a completely new owner (had my barraband parrot for about a month now) so I have no experience whatsoever. I did my research and I think I'm doing pretty well, she is able to take food from my hand and lets me pet her, but occasionally she isn't in the mood and runs from me. I know I need patience, but I read about people bonding with their parrot in a month, and it's been a month for me. She flew next to me a few times (she's out of her cage most of the time) and it's always very exciting, since she doesn't let me touch her when she's out. I'm probably being impatient, there is definitely progress; but it's very slow.
I was wondering how I can teach her to step up? She only eats from my hand if I bring it close to her and there's nothing she likes too much that she would be willing to eat whenever it's near. Do I need to wait a bit more before teaching her? Any information that's not typically mentioned in guides or online (like personal experiences) would be incredibly helpful. Sorry for the long post!
