I'm not sure what they're called..bands, tags? With the numbers on them.. My budgie Whimsy keeps biting hers and pulling at it and getting it stuck around her foot where she can use her back toe. I can continue to fix it but moving it back up on her leg but it is so loose that he just keeps pulling it back down and he is unable to use his foot when this happens and it has only started happening today but has already caused him a few little falls. It isn't loose enough to come off but loose enough to keep getting stuck too low on his leg.

Help please?

i'd have the vet remove it, that is dangerous for it to be that loose. it can get caught on a toy or perch and she can hang from her leg and potentially injure her foot/leg :(

I am not a fan of leg bands, when I used to breed exclusively, I refused to use them especially of what happened to one of my budgie females, she had to have her foot amputated because of the leg band. Never again will I have leg bands!

If it's a closed band:

The breeder probably used the wrong size or the biggest size for budgies. For example, I think a white fronted amazon can use size 12-14.

If it's an open band:

If your budgie is uncomfortable with it there's a chance it could be an open band.

Removal:

The only safe way to remove either band is by having a vet do so. Even though the procedure is simple you could seriously harm your companion if an untrained person does it.

It does sound like it's too large. If you slid the band up can you hold the back two toes up against his leg and slide the band down over his foot and remove it??
