Bowie is starting to practice words!

Bowie will be 1yr old next month we believe. He's been imitating Angel (my cockatiel) and he sounds identical! I feel like such a terrible mom cause I can not tell who is who! Its crazy!

Anyway, I call bowie baby and Angel my old man. The other day I was playing R2-D2 noises for him to practice and I heard him mumble hi baby! Sooooo frigging exciting! Can't wait for him to start saying it more clearly

so so cool when they start huh! They're such brilliant talkers with cute voices.
I feel your pain on the mimicking. My female tiel doesn't make a huge array of sound, but both Henry and Marley have nailed the sounds she does, along with each other's calls so darned if I know!

Once bowie perfects R2-D2 im posting it asap! So cute! Maybe I'll do progressions of it

Question, he's shy about it. If I'm in the other room and come in he stops right away! It takes a bit of coaxing to get him to start being vocal again with us in the room. Usually we can get him to do it, but sometimes he is just not having it!

I wish I could answer that question...my ekkie will NOT speak if I am in the room! I have to listen to him from outside the door. It is promising that you can coax him to talk with you in the room, though

Got tech savvy and put my child on YouTube! At about 11 sec you hear the hi baby. The rest is R2D2 and random imitations of the other bird

Bowie is adorable! My male started talking around the same age... He likes to swing from his boing and say weeeeeee! It's too cute..lol

Natoleee Henry was shy and hidey about it for 3-4 months. Now he has a huge vocab, is super clear and I can't shut him up

Leo, my senegal, is starting to mimic the sounds of my 'tiel, and we've only had Leo for a couple weeks. There's been a few times when I had to look twice to see who was chirping. Leo is also starting to make some new sounds that are lower and more growly than chirping, making me think he might be trying to mimic the humans, but I can't be sure yet. It's amazing how smart these little guys are!

I remember I was so excited when Lyze picked up the wolf whistle. Now whenever he wants mom's attention he'll do it!
