My sister recently adopted a Bourke's Parakeet, and since my area of knowledge is in 'Toos, and Conures I'm not exactly positive on how to make her feel at home, especially during the night! Unfortunately her wings were clipped before purchase, of which we plan to let them grow back out so she can get around her cage better, but we are trying to think of ways so that she will sleep at night, She has a bed that she can sleep in when cold, but will not go in it, I am considering getting her one of the bird-safe cozy rings so she can perch on it, but no matter what I try she continuously chirps into the night, and even though she is not mine, I am doing my best to keep her comfy, but does anyone else have any ideas?

Bourke's are active around sunset/sunrise in the wild (hence the large eyes) but usually settle when it's full dark. My experience is that while they may be asleep at night, if there is any disturbance they will start chirping. Our three used to be on our back veranda and would start chirping if I went there at night, even if I didn't turn the light on. So your sister's bird probably hasn't yet settled into its new environment and will probably quieten down once it does. I also tried to separate one male from the hen and second male but both males became distressed so put them back together.

Mike is spot on! I've also noticed more activity at dawn and dusk times so it's normal - to an extent. If it's completely dark and she's still chirping 10 minutes after all 'lights out' and she's not being bothered by noises or movement, then she may still need time to settle in.

Bourkes are amazing flyers, IMO, so I hope she molts soon! :)

I do as well, I have met multiple people who have grassland parakeets in the past few weeks and they have all said they are great fliers.
