RIP Constantine: Jenday Conure
In the past month, I've noticed a new addition to the feathered residants of my lake. Con and Barker have noticed too and were the first to alert me to the intruder. Bald eagles have returned to the little lake I live on much to the girl's annoyance. They're fine with the nosy bluejays (they just have screaming wars with each other), they tolerated the woodpeckers that peered in the windows (more screaming on their part), and they let the flock of ducks know when they were coming too close to the bank (yeah even more screaming). But when the eagle came to say hi, landing on the wall right outside my bedroom windows, I thought the girls were going to explode.

I'm happy to see the return of such a beautiful bird and enjoy watching him chase the ducks and sit in the giant cotton wood across the lake (no he's never eaten one). I'm sure the girls can't wait for him to leave. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to snap a pic to share.

that's really cool~ nothing like seeing a bald eagle flying overhead!

Only time I've seen a bald eagle not in a zoo was down in Florida on the way to visit the Kennedy Space Center. It was cool to see them outside of a cage and it was a nest they had. My father was also excited to see a gator not in a cage, lol. I occasionally have ducks that land in the pond in my backyard.

I know when I was younger we had a breeding pair in the giant tree but something happened to the nest or a mate died and they left. I know sometimes if you step outside, you can hear eagles screaming in the distance (and parrots screaming cause I went outside :p)

There is one (maybe a pair but they've seen one) near my parents. Last winter a deer got hit by a car just over the hill and it fed on that deer for a week. And this fall dad shot a deer and within a half hour it was feeding on the gut pile.
