Beaker: Cape Parrot
Hello, i was wondering. Sometimes Beaker looks like his nose has some dried boogers inside. I am wondering if they will cause him to have hard breathing. He seems fine. And is there any nose drops or something for him?

Saline nose drops if it's a problem. If the boogers are dry, it is possible for them to clog the nostrils. I've had to clean a few boogers out before, and it's not easy when the birds are cockatiel sized or smaller!

Steam, extra humidity and frequent baths may help. If it's a frequent occurrence, there could be some underlying cause.

Before you go digging, please make sure that it is not your bird's operculum you are seeing in his nare which helps prevent inhalation of foreign bodies. It looks like a small round structure often mistaken for a seed or "booger"......

I don't think it is, because it din't used to be there. I was not going to dig anyway, but instead get some saline drops.

But it turns out I don't have to do anything because the booger is gone today! Maybe when he was splashing in his water or something...

Anyway, thanks for the info about that "operculum". That's useful info

When I bring a bird in the shower he will usually sneeze, and clean his nose......
