Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
I can't believe it possible but Syd is so closely bonded with me until he spied a pink plastic carrier bag that I stupidly left out. At first I thought he was just playing, but no, he was doing very rude things with it. As I approached he was in attack mode and saw me off a couple of times.

Now he is just sitting next to it making no effort at all to fly to me as he would normally. I find myself envious of a rather attractive pink plastic carrier bag that rustles seductively each time he nestles against it!

I think I am being dropped! Life as I know it is over.

Oh yeah Syd has dropped you like a hot rock! But to be dumped in favour of a plastic bag ... kinky!

Update. Like any jealous ex-girlfriend I knew his weak spot. Sunflower seeds! I just casually got the pot and made great play at unscrewing the lid. Using all my wiles I put my hand in the pot and drew out a nice juicy seed.

He looked vaguely interested. I came slowly nearer holding his gaze with my amazing green eyes as he was slowly tempted to approach my outstretched hand. He couldn't resist and with a sultry 'step up' he was on my hand and I swooped him into his cage before letting him have the seed.

My competitor is gone. Banished to the dark crevices of the kitchen drawer and my little man is all mine again! Life is back to normal!

Oh No! Now I feel so bad. I left him in his cage for about 10 mins and when I let him out again he went everywhere hunting for his bag! Will his mental health be affected? Will he be damaged for life? Will he forgive me? Such torment.

No the bag is staying put mate!

Oh he’ll get over his infatuation with plastic, just keep plying him with sunflower seeds and he’ll come around. Reminds me of a song by a well-known Brisbane band actually, “Polyester girl, so shiny, my polyester girl...”

This thread makes me happy.

It's good to keep a sense of humour. There is enough encouragement to go nuts without us all giving in to the bad, sad news that seems to be the order of the day.

Here the sun is shining, the air has that Autumn crispness, the leaves on the trees are slowly taking on their golden hues and in my little world it's ok, not perfect but ok.

What more should we want? (Maybe no more sexy pink plastic bags - but that can be arranged pretty easily!)

Yep and when you see that wistful look of yearning in Syd’s eye you’ll know he’s thinking of a certain special pink carrier bag and all of the romantic adventures that could have been. The heart wants what the heart wants ... ❤️

Perhaps to finally put an end to this madness Syd might need to realise that Pink's rustling affections are easily won. A chance sighting of Pink with some cruddy old supermarket bag for life might clarify things for him? It's for his own good. You are the provider of SUNFLOWER SEEDS and still his attentions were at risk of wandering!? The world can be a cruel dark place...
