So Rocky, twice did this. But he sways and bobs his head as of he is drowsy or drunk and then does this sway back up this and flies. Was he calculating? What does this mean?

He did it twice when my wife was sitting next to me. He always aims for her head, he likes it there... but he doesn't do the typically hyper, swooping positions... he does that when he is hyper but never actually flies.

Can you get a video of the behavior? Having little trouble picturing the scene entirely.

Thanks!!

Hmmm... as long as it is not an aggressive action (and you would know if it were aggressive with an amazon), sounds like he may just be sizing up a difficult landing spot before he flies to it. A human head is rounded, covered in hair and moves. Not an easy spot for a parrot to land!

My moms amazon would sometimes land on my head. I'd cringe when I heard her coming because it was a weird sensation and somewhat intimidating to have a rather large bird land on your head lol. She loved me to death and was in no way being aggressive though. She was a really skilled flyer and still checked out landing spots before flying to them.

I will try to get a video. But it doesn't seem aggressive because I catch him with my finger and he's fine. Sizing up the landing spot is interesting.

So imagine someone doing the genie dance the head movement... something like that.

My Ekkie does a "flip head" move, that's what we call it. It's something unique to her so maybe this is a unique behavior for your fid? To explain the flip head, she sits, turns her head upside down and looks around while her head is upside down. It looks like she broke her neck but she's fine, just something she does and we've learned it's just something she does.

Doesn't look like that. But Adrian has like twitches, especially when she says peekaboo. Or sometimes she acts possessed and start way turning and swaying her head saying woohooo woooooo... lol it is pretty funny... she does it upside down too... but she never flies.

As stated above; This is far more likely a chosen physical movement of the head (eye location) to better define the location of a targeted landing location. Understanding the location of their eyes, a series of quick head movements allows a rapid definition of an object and its potential as a landing spot. By following /repeating the same head movement allows them to quickly /precisely judge distance.

It is really great, the four of you bonding so well!
I must say though, I was a bit blown when you didn't relocate to Florida!
