Bluffing

Hi,
My Indian ring neck is about 6 months old. He has never gone through a noticeable bluffing stage. Does this mean I am in the clear, or could it still be coming? Everything I have read said it happens after weaning, but is not very specific about what that means. Just curious.

Speaking of bluffing might I add a secondary question has anyone noticed that Ringnecks seem crankier when they are sleepy? Being a slight bit more nippy or is this part of the bluffing too?

Our African ringneck is about a year and some change and just started bluffing, but only in or on his cage. As for timing, Pax is particularly grumpy right after and right before going to bed. My experience is he has no malice behind his nips and has never really 'clamped down' on us, though that may change. When we got him, Pax had been a pet-store bird for nigh on a year that nobody wanted because he screamed and flew everywhere and bit, but after several drops in price we decided if we didn't adopt him he'd end up in a shelter or euthanized, and he was quiet for about four months before the hormones kicked in.
