Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and a long time parrot lover/owner. I am looking for a blue-mutation caique in Europe or USA, heard rumors of a breeder in Germany but also heard that the breeder only sells to the middle east. Any help would be appreciated. Looking for a young blue-mutation caique as a pet - not a breeding project.

Thank you in advance.

why would you narrow down so specifically if you just want a pet?

I've seen stuff about Blue mutations before and have heard (nothing confirmed) that they often have a slew of health problems due to inferior genetic traits brought out from just trying to get the coloring. I'd just look for a bird that likes you and you like, far easier that way. Also you'd pay through the nose for a blue mutation, like easily 3x the cost of a normal bird. Also looking for at both Europe and the USA if you're getting from out of your country/ out of region say for example you're in Europe and buy from USA or vice-versa there is a long expensive process in getting them sent to you involving numerous documents both legal and from the vets along with a quarantine in many places and multiple health checks by vets which at a young age could cause some severe trauma to the bird

Thank you for your response. We already have caiques and a blue-mutation will be for our private collection. Paperwork is not a problem we've done it before and our parrot is one of the only to fly intercontinental on business class via LOT Dreamliner - she hasn't complained ;)

I can understand your frustration as last time we visited the UK and Jersey after Brexit we were unable to take our parrot as your laws are much more restrictive than the EU and USA.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I don't think he was frustrated I think he had a valid point.....I don't even...you know what...

No one knows of a blue caique dealer. Sorry you were misinformed. We work on bringing up healthy, happy, GENETICALLY SUPERIOR (ie. naturally bread) birds here. Sorry if I spoke out of turn.

Also brexit hasn't even happened yet it's scheduled for 29 March 2019. so....

I have no comments on your choice, just to say I don't believe we have any members currently who would have contacts for that. Voren aviaries specialized in blue mutations of several new world species before he died, but I don't think caiques were one of them. I know of a few members who may have contacts for blue mutation YNA's but not blue mutation caiques. That said, you may be able to track down some of these rarer birds by tracking down who's selling other rare mutations. It's still a pretty tight community dealing in the rarest of the rare colorations. Do be aware, even if you do track down a breeder, it is likely you'll be put on a years long wait list.

Wow.... beautiful mutation, so I did a 5 minute google search about them. Evidently there's some breeders in Australia for them (not sure if the mutation originated there). Also the one auction I found of them, they went for 35 k.

Wow ! Best of luck, I really have no comments otherwise I just thought that was interesting to know.

No frustration here, I think possibly mis-read my confusion of narrowing down so hard. Saying that I feel like I'm a bit more care-free with species I want ETC. Essentially as long as I get on with the bird, feel comfortable with them and can look after them I don't really mind what they are! :p

As clark said Brexit hasn't happened yet, it's up in arms if it even will or not to be honest. our import rules are the same as the rest of EU for the moment, just need a closed ring, and any importing documents like a hatch certificate and Article 10 certificate and a clean bill of health from a vet. Every EU country should need these to get through customs.
