in the central Florida area. Paula who operates the Mobile bird groomers that I use Ask if I would be willing to take in an adult Blue & Gold macaw. She explained that one of her customers took in two Blue & Gold macaws about a year ago due to an elderly couple not being able to care for them any longer. Eventhough both Macaws were tame, one of them I think the male has intimidated her (owner) to the point that she won't handle or even take the bird out of it's cage.
She said when she trys to take the bird out of the cage, he tries to bite her. But Paula the groomer who regularly grooms them reached in every time and picked each bird up without incident. Now the one Macaw that has been giving the owner problems opens his mouth as if to bite, but once she forcefully tells the bird to STEP UP, he steps up with no problem and is docile at that point. I declined the offer or lets say my better half did.
Both are in seperate cages. The owner intends to keep one of the Macaws.
So if anyone is interested and lives in the CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA, send me a private message and I will see if I can hook you & Paula up for the Macaw. It was offered to me for free, so I'm assuming there is no adoption fee.
BUT YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO DO CERTAIN THINGS TO INSURE THAT THE BIRD GOES TO THE BEST HOME POSSIBLE. Like no breeders and no bird flippers. I'm sure there will be an application, thorough interview and home inspection if I have to do this myself.
