I needed some blue dumbos! This first one is supposed to be easy going and the second girl is a bit skittish/shy.

Car ride home. The skittish girl calmed down a bit!

LOL, I think everyone needs some dumbo eared ones- they are *so* adorable.

(I really prefer the even-coated ones, but that is just taste ;) I've been patchy myself for ages and quite bored with that look. )

They are adorable , love those dumbos . I have a Martin boy heā€™s the last of my 3 boys , lock is his name . I just love rats they are so fun and clean

They are adorable! Do I see a new trend here?

Lol the one that was supposed to be neverous reminds me of my old rat Destiny and the only thing that makes them look a little alike is the fact they are blue haha. I tend to like the hooded rats really.

I realized I missed having nice rats! I had another group the other year but they just werenā€™t personable enough. My friend had a cage of girls so she took my old group.

Donā€™t let me get morešŸ˜‚ The cage is now full with 4 and Iā€™m not sure where Iā€™d put another rat cage so I think Iā€™ll be safe from any more rat additions haha

Haha, the "I'm not sure where I'd put another cage" tells me there may be room for just one more cage:)

Oh, that FACE! Precious. So little and vulnerable and sweet, looking up so endearingly.

I love rats... they started my venture into animal husbandry.

A pet rat was my first pet. A champagne female and Iā€™ve had them off and on over the years. These two blues are a little jumpy. They were older than I was expecting so they havenā€™t been handled enough as babies or the breeder hasnā€™t learned to cull for temperament either one. They arenā€™t bitey just a little jumpy. My favorite still has to be the one that escaped the title of feeder and is a little hooded agouti haha. Sheā€™s super sweet but insanely high energy. Her ears swivel and twitch nonstop.

Iā€™m actually planning on setting up a little breeding rat area in the garage now. warm garage not cold....I know this from last winter when I had snakes brumating in there and I was checking temps all the time. So Iā€™ll probably be shifting the skittish blue girl from last time into the garage instead of the kitchen area or maybe not havenā€™t decided.

Great fotoshoot!

They are adorable! We had pet rats when we lived in our "no pets allowed" apartment. I don't do no pets very well, and rats make better pets than hamsters for kids if you ask me .

They really do. I had hamsters and was not a fan. Unfortunately the ferret kept breaking into their cage, so they were just a no pet while the ferrets had their reign of terror haha

These 3 are turning out to be very sweet. Picked them up over the weekend the other photos were the breeders.

The Russian blue dumbo female.

Cute! I saw the title and immediately though "Blue Dumbos" sounded like street slang for some sort of drug though LOL!

First litter of rats! 14 from a albino mom and black masked dumbo male. There are a lot of hooded ones in here. I havenā€™t gotten a new photo but they are about a week old now. Mom ripped up a puppy pad so I wonā€™t be putting those on the bottom anymore lol

You always have the coolest animals Victoria! Iā€™ve never been into rats, but these are so cute.

Do the snakes know you have all these rats? :D

All the blues are hanging out together now! The youngest blue will definitely be pregnant now. The older girls were kicking him away for now...poor guy lol

Photos today of the 14! Looks like 4 hooded agouti, 4 hooded blacks and 6 white/light colored ones.

Do you also refer to the young as "rittens" (rat-kittens) like they do overhere?
