I am concerned about the pads of Max's feet.

They are looking so black.
I was thinking that a couple of years ago they were not so dark.
or maybe I am mis-remembering?

Will other Blue and Gold owners describe the bottom of your macaw's feet?

are they purpley-pinky-fleshy?
or
closer to the color of the talons?

Thank you in advance.

As long as they are not pink-ish or swollen I would not worrie.

(Sunny had some semi-blistering going on at some point, was afraid it was bumble-foot, but is was irritation of the legband in combination with her really weird sitting -> because of the no-tail, crappy wings -> bad balance situation)

I met a woman last sunday who explained to me that B&G macaw feet come in all colours: very dark, almost black, to grey-ish and even white.
(Sunnies feet are a middle grey with white scars and the bottoms of her feet are only slightly darker now, with lighter creases where the skin is thinner. Sometimes the skin on the 'heel' is a bit pinkish looking -> time to adjust the seating arrangements)

Thicker skin -> darker feet
so maybe your macaw has more callous now?
(More active lifestyle, different perches etc.etc.)

I've seen lots of different Macaw's with black feet at the Rescue as well, I think it depends on the species, the age, the environment, etc...But as Christa said, as long as there aren't any swollen, red patches or areas on the bottom of his feet and it's just calloused/rough skin, then it being black is not an issue, just his normal foot color...and it may darken and/or get rougher as he ages, just like our feet/skin does...
