My 8 year old Blue and Gold macaw has had a constant red color on his face. I know its normal for the face to be red when there excited but its been red literally for 2 weeks. And he's also been screaming more than he normally does I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Any suggestions?
Thanks:) :blue1:

Does he hang upside down a lot? Is it possible to post a picture so others may see what you are referring to?

Has anything changed? Have you spoken with an avian vet about it?

A lot of screaming could be caused by agitation, boredom, loneliness or fright. And all of those could cause him to "blush".

If in doubt, I'd consult with an avian vet, especially if the behavior change occurred suddenly.

Lucy was doing that for awhile, and we did some research, and did some talking with our breeder because just to go into the nearest trained bird vet is $400. Blue & Golds have horrible allergies we learned. Now we run a humidifier, dust every other day, and clean her cage daily, and she doesn't do it now. The day we started running the humidifier there was already a difference.
