Hi everyone! So my parrotlet has had two new blood feathers in the past 4 weeks and each time it gets to about full growth he manages to break it and i end up having to pluck it to stop the bleeding and because its too broken to save. What is the best way to make sure he doesn't break his flight feathers as they are coming in!? I made the mistake of allowing the pet store clip his wings and they completely clipped wayy to many when they did it. Now he cant glide very well(Only about 5 feet from where i am holding him). I try my best to make sure he doesn't fly off me, but he is a dare devil and will legit fly off me just to walk back over and want back on my finger.

Sorry to hear this. I never had a blood feather issue when Levi was clipped, but he busted up his tail feathers pretty bad when he crash landed on the floor.
Do you have a first aid kit for your little one. If not you should and make sure it have Styptic Powder in it.

thanks for the info. Right now i do not have a first aid kit, but i do have most if not all the things you would need to stop a bleed (corn starch) and small tweezers for plucking. He does very well when i hold him now so i can extend his wing and isolate the area to make sure i dont pluck it wrong. Each time I have had to do it the bleeding has immediately stopped after plucking thankfully, but both times he had completely fractured the feather and had no chance of healing.
