Hello, I have 2 8 month old sun conures and I noticed a blood red fluid on my shoulder from time to time after carrying them around. I did my own research and came across that they’re poop would end up as the color of the food you fed them, so I thought that must have been it.
Today, I held one of the birds on my finger as they let me stroke their head, and the same blood red fluid squirted out onto my finger. It came from its chest, and the bird didn’t seem started or in pain at all. I knew there was some kind of mark on its chest before, when I first got them, but I figured it was still some feathers growing in. When I put the birds back in their cage and checked on them later, there was no more red fluid.
I’m a new bird owner, so I only know what the previous handler told me. He seemed to be taking very well care of them. This is only happening to just one of the birds. What’s happening? Should I be worried? Please help.
