Gandalf - CAG (1997-2010) R.I.P. my baby boy.
Bitty - CAG (2 yrs old? and working on spoiling her rotten)
Wow.....I was scritching Bitty today in her favorite spot, when my Mother called me. I picked up my cell with my left hand, all the while continuing to pet Bitty with my right. Within 10 seconds of talking, the little wench bit me! Not only that...she started smacking the bars of the cage with her beak...quite a fantastic little "Grey bluff". Mind you, this is not the typical Grey bite where they nail you out of the blue. This was a "look you in the eye and gradually bite harder and harder" bite. She obviously doesn't know that Gandalf could bite much harder than she can, but I'll give her an "A" for effort.

As soon as I got off the phone, she became her snuggly self again. Wow...I guess I have really spoiled her, as she obviously wants to have my total, complete attention.

I have also just about given up on her fear of the vacuum cleaner. It's just more evidence that the woman who sold her to me must have been a hoarder. I guess I'm going to have to put the wheels back on her cage (ummpphhh...that thing is heavy!) and roll her into another room while I clean up. So disappointing, since vacuum time was a cherished playtime for Gandalf, as he would bathe in his bowls while I vacuumed, and say "Gandalf...nooooo" while he tried to dart in and destroy the paper before I could get it into the bottom of his cage.

She is literally terrified of the vacuum. She fell from the top of her cage to the bottom (a good 36") and landed on her back. I was mortified, and ran over, but she was okay....and took advantage of the opportunity to get some guilt scratches in.

Anyway...that's the status on "Project: Bitty" for today.

Hi PB Every time I turn on somethng that is noisy I say "watch out" and the birds know something is about to happen and they are on alert.
Bitty is in good hands with you for sure. I can only imagine what condition a bird would be that lived with a hoarder.

(Now I have a grey making quaker sounds. I would rather it was the other way around).

I do not think they make quiet vacuume cleaners but you might invent one for us.

I am amazed! My Mom and Stepdad came over to watch the NFC Championship (why else do you think I was cleaning on a Sunday?).

You know...my Mom has something special in her soul. She was giving Bitty whole head and neck scratches through the bars within 10 minutes of getting there! Bitty loves her! (Gandalf thought she hung the moon too). She even managed to sweet talk (much higher female voice seems to do wonders) Bitty while I got that area vacuumed. Maybe there is hope after all.

This has been a great day for Bitty, despite the fall. I am totally relieved about a fishing trip I want to take in May. My mother always watched Gandalf while I traveled (obviously no sacrifice for him). Now I know Bitty might miss me, but will be able to get physical love and affection while I'm gone. :) Now all I have to do is get Mom trained on the parrot first aid kit.

hehe, bleeeessss!

I love this story!

Like Di, I say to the animals: Shall we vaccumn now? Cal loves the hoover but doesn't like it when I take it out of her sight and still use it!!! Oiiiii commmmeee baaaaack!

Olly dog acts as if the hoover takes itself downstairs during the night and beats him....and the hairdryer....and an electric drill....or anything that makes noise lol.

Cal loves to say "hello" before I do when answering the phone and she always listens to the other person punctuating the conversation in the only way she knows how. She's delighted to hear a word she understands. My mum said: ....so I said thank you very much....beca- Cal then puffed up proud as punch and bellowed in her best way THANKYOU!!!! and so it goes on. It's very cute!

If I was you I'd make use of any speaker phone function your phone has hahaha! Bitty is too cute.....

Norf I love reading your posts, the way you describe things.
Amazing how so birds love the vacuum, and others not, for various reasons.
OMG Mishka loves the vacuum, he begins to talk, 10 to a dozen, and he must be louder than the vacuum.

Last night Bitty was hanging off of the cage door like a daredevil, while snaking her head all around my hand, getting scratches. I thought it was so cute, I wanted to get a video of it.

You can guess who that went. The second I picked up the phone, she bit me again LOL. What am I going to do with her? Good Lord....if I still had a girlfriend, Bitty would probably be plotting mayhem.

Hah! My boy is not very fond of cell phones either, he gets very jealous. What's funny is that he's figured out how to work the touch screen on my boyfriends phone so he really gets a kick out of chasing letters on the screen as he types them.but if it rings or you are texting he gets pretty offended and starts chirping and puffing up.

The funny thing is...she loves the TV remote. Go figure.

everytime vincent sees me with my phone he flips out goes mad lol

Not only does Ms. Beak hate to see me talking on the phone, but she actively seeks out the phone and tries to destroy it while it's not in my hands. Luckily it still works, but it has some serious beak marks and a cracked screen now. I've taken to hiding it under pillows so she can't see it.
