- Gandalf - CAG (1997-2010) R.I.P. my baby boy.
Bitty - CAG (2 yrs old? and working on spoiling her rotten)
My Mother always watched Gandalf for me when I would go on vacation. It was no sacrifice on his part, because he was infatuated with her.
My first vacation away from Bitty is coming up and I was a bit worried. She let her scratch her before, but you never know, right?
Well, my Mother came over to see me last night, and Bitty was awe struck. She ended up clowning around hanging off of the cage and all of the other sill stuff parrots do when they see someone they want.
I explained to my Mom how to let Bitty back into her cage if she were to fly off. (If you pull out the grate, she climbs back up through the opening into the cage...pretty smart.)
She ended up falling off of the cage (she can be so clumsy!). I wanted to test out her stepping up, so I let my Mom do it. Bitty got right up on her finger! Of course she did the "flapping wings while engaging in a deathgrip" thing, but it was great to see.
Now I don't have to worry about my Mom not being able to get Bitty back into her cage. So she can have some out of cage time. I'm going to be sweating in the Alabama sun for 9 days, but I won't be sweating bullets over Bitty's safety.
