Biting cage bars?

Sailboat adviced me to start new threads for new questions, so I apologize in advance if I’m driving you all crazy lol.
So when we’re interacting with Chewy, he either just watches us and perches to fall asleep or the complete opposite: running around at the bottom of the cage and bites the cage bars...
He’s not terrified of us as long as we remain outside the cage, but what does that behavior mean?
He’s by no means tame yet so I’m not sure about letting him out of his cage yet as he hasn’t been seen eating as yet,..

Bar biting and bar rubbing is a fairly common behavior. Both for cleaning their Beaks and working their Beaks. In their natural range, they are busy breaking nuts, opening plants and pulling apart an insect that showed-up at the right place and the wrong time. This works their Beak during the day. Biting a bar is just working the muscles and the Beak.

He’s doing much better already, I rearranged his food and water to bowls on the floor and he’s been eating and drinking. Instant change to a more comfortable and active bird!
