Nikita - Red Sided Eclectus
Seeking some advice. My husband “Rinus” is going into depression. Nikita just keeps on attacking him. The cage for his African Grey “male” is next to her cage. Every morning as he opens his Grey’s cage to feed him she attacks my husband. She will however take food from him if given by hand but will not allow him close to her cage if he want to open the door. This is not only with him, but with all male figures including my sons.
To mention, Rinus can do anything with the Grey. Take him out, kiss him, stroke him and also walk around on the shoulder. That is “daddy’s little boy”.
Any suggestions on how to overcome this problem, to train my Elecsus “Nikita” not to attack Rinus.

Is Nikita a rehome/adoption? If so she could have been abused in her previous home by a male. My Sully hates my dad because he looks like his previous owner, I haven't gotten Sully to be ok with my dad yet but he does allow him to give him blackberries(Sully's favorite).
If it is from abuse she may never be ok with him, but if it is just a random thing that's she hates males she might get over it in time.
To get Sully to like my mom(he hated her too), I just had her in the room while I was playing/feeding him everyday. Soon he let her feed him blackberries and now he is fine with her in the room and he even dances with her!
So you could try just having your husband in the same room as you while feeding/playing so she learns that he is not a threat then just have him keep working closer and closer until he can feed her with no problem.
