Birds For Rehome or Sale

At the risk of being flamed I am going to bring this up.

I have noticed that the forum is not consistent with birds who need to be rehomed. Members advertise their birds need to be rehomed and use "rehome fee" when in actuality they are selling the bird for large amounts of money.

The definition for fee according to my Webster's dictionary states: "fee - a charge for professional services or licenses, etc." The definition of "sell" is "to exchange (goods, services, etc.) for money.

If the OP mentions any financial amount, shouldn't it be in the Birds for Sale Section? Prime example: www.parrotforums.com/adoptions-re-homing/38877-new-forum.html

I think "rehome fee" is misused. In my mind a fee is a small amount under $100.

I suggest any posts that mention any type of dollar amount be placed in the Birds for Sale section because that is exactly what the poster is doing and birds who are being given up for free be placed in the Rehome/Adoption Section.

FLAME FLAME FLAME hahahahahahaha, Nope, I agree with you 100% and we have been a bit lax on this so thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will try and make sure that birds for sale go to the birds for sale classifieds section and birds for adoption only go to the adoption-rehome section.

Unfortunately though, the way both catagory's are set up, the classifieds section is for anything for sale and not just for birds. So you will have to pick through the other listings to to find the birds for sale listings.

How do you determine what a reasonable adoption fee would be? By the above definition if there is any dollar amount it should be under the for sale section.

This is the way I see it:

If there is a dollar amount listed for the pet, it should go into the for sale section, but if the bird is listed for FREE then it should be placed in the adoption/rehome section.

BUT, this will not stop people from posting their bird for FREE and then listing the cage and other items for a fee such as EXAMPLE: Two Senegal Parrots to be rehomed (NO FEE) but their cage and additional items are for sale for $300.00.

So there are ways around anything like this. Under this circumstance, I would have no problem with it being listed in the Adoption/Rehome section.

I would also like to add here that the main objective here is to help find the perfect loving home for the bird(s), pets or family members by which ever forum they are listed under.
