Kiwi REALLY loves when we give him a bite of pizza as a treat. I think it's the food he gets the most excited by, but we obviously can't feed him a lot of it because it isn't really a healthy food for him and I don't think they're suppose to get a lot of tomatoes or cheese. I already "cook" for him a bit with bird-healthy recipes (bread, grains and pasta) and am wondering if anyone has a recipe for birdie pizza? I'm thinking maybe a sprouted grain English muffin with a puree' veggie sauce (vs tomato sauce) and a little cheese to feed him in small portions as a healthy parrot version. Any better ideas would be welcome :):green:

Thanks for the suggestion. I posted this a while ago, and tried him on my idea of the sprouted English muffin with purée veggies, and it was not a hit. He flung it and gave me this "who do you think your fooling" look. It's difficult cooking for a single bird (so much gets wasted) and besides the grains he eats daily and bread I can freeze, I've pretty much given it up. He eats plenty of fresh fruits and veggies anyways, it's not as though I need to sneak them in his diet. More, I enjoy cooking in general, and would love to cook more for Kiwi too, but it's just impractacle and usually not appreciated lol. He does know we have pizza night on Fridays (gets quite excited when he sees me making them). Since I use all organic ingredients on the pizzas I make, and he only gets a small piece (size of a half dollar) I don't know that it's that bad for him to begin with.

I'm sure you can cook something else for him. Does he like pasta ? You could mix it with boiled veggies. Birdie bread is a all time favorite . I LOVE making fruit salads for my budgies. Just seeing them attacking the bowel with rainbows of juices Dyeing his fluffy little feather brings so much fun :D

My Alex LOVES pizza as well :p, I wouldn't think that the tiny amount (half a dollar) would cause any problems for Him... But if you really wanted to go super healthy, just make sure it's wholegrain crust and lower sodium sauce! or you can make him his own birdie pizza out of a mini whole wheat pita with a sprinkle of low fat cheese and crushed tomato, dress it up with some bell pepper and maybe some dry chili if he likes spicy :). I'm sure He would love that, and then you wont feel guilty :p.
