Hi everybody! I posted an introduction, so I won't repeat everything that I said there. The gist of it is that I do not currently own a bird but I want to own a bird. I'm very drawn to the CAGs, but I'm also potentially interested in a Sun Conure. I'll leave details of situation and decision making to a future post, since that's not the purpose of this.
I'd like to have an opportunity to get around birds more before I make a decision regarding whether or not a bird is the right pet for me (I've kept everything from dogs and cats [currently have a dog and cat] to reptiles [snakes, lizards, and turtles] to small exotic animals [sugar gliders -- which I don't think I'd do again].
I don't feel like I can make a truly educated decision about whether or not to get a bird unless I've had the opportunity to spend time with them getting to know more about them first hand (such as training and cleaning and so on).
What is the best opportunity to get around parrots in a personal capacity? I'm not looking for employment, more like a mentor. I live in NE Ohio.
