Hi all bird lovers :blue2:

I am looking for some good ideas for home made toys or anything I could use as bird toys, I live in a small town that dose not have a good pet shop that sells bird toys....

Thanks

You can buy uncolored Popsicle sticks and parrot safe woods. Just be careful to keep bar spacing in mind when making bird toys so your bird doesn't get his head stuck. You can also use bird safe wood and cut it. Empty toilet paper rolls/paper towel rolls are fun too.

Another fantastic thing you can do is find out what plants/trees your bird might eat naturally in the wild. Just make sure to check and double check that it's actually safe. Since I have a galah I cut off branches from the eucalyptus in the backyard, she can even eat the gum berries but they're always out of reach. But even thought this tree is safe for Australian native parrots it will make non native birds sick.

here's a toy I made for Rosie out of a coconut shell(left over from old toy) Shredders, foraging strips of paper, and some yummy treats.

cool thanks, that helps alot.... can I buy a coconut and give it whole to my pet, or must I first cut in half and clean the meat out.... thanks for the help, never made bird toys b4

I bought some cat toys at my local grocery store...the round ones with bells in them. It was like 3$ for 2 of them. Ziva just loves them!
Also, we took pipe cleaners and tied them to the side bars of her cage, she loves them. She can play with them while inside or outside the cage.
