Bird or Fish?

I am not entirely sure which one this red thing is.

Mistake Number 1: Washing dishes

I was getting ready to wash dishes, and the chicken was hanging out with me. As soon as I started filling the sink, she ran down my arm, puffed out, and spread her wings out, "I'm gonna take a shower!" style. So I stopped doing dishes, took her into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let her take one.

Mistake Number 2: Finishing washing dishes

So after her shower, we came back to the kitchen, so I could actually wash dishes. As soon as I turned the water on, she was running back down my arm, trying to puff up (as much as she can when literally still dripping wet) and spreading her wings. I tried to explain to her that she wasn't getting another shower, as she was literally still dripping wet from the last one, but she just didn't seem to care.

I am not sure whether she is a bird or a fish. Once she gets in the shower (which I have realized, has to be warm, or she doesn't want one) she will flap and stuff for a little, until she is completely wet. Then she will spread out her wings, literally lay in my hand (or on the bottom of the tub if I let her give herself a shower) then half fall asleep. I think she would do it for hours, if I let her. At least until she ran us out of hot water. My wife says it's my own fault, because I spoil her, but at least we have a clean, not stinky, chicken.

Awesome! I wish Tsali had a healthy relationship with water. Water is for drinking on!y. If it gets on your feathers you will melt like the evil witch.

As the adult(?) In this relationship, I understand the importance of baths - we are working on it. The only thing about the sink that interests Tsali is the rubber button that turns on the sprayer which he nabs and flies off with every chance he gets.

Eh, they're just like human kids. Some of them you can't get in the bath, and others you can't get out of the bath. I'm not sure there is a happy medium.

Ok ya know your gonna hafta cough up some pics of nappy time in the shower next time you catch her doing it. I must admit I can't blame her I've been known to close my eyes and enjoy a nice hot bath before.

Aww don't give up ya never know when they'll change their mind & decide they enjoy it (maybe not ever as much as the red chicken lol). Gracie use to go full on crazy around water (there's a few threads about her fear of it).

Try taking a shower and having fun in the water while leaving Tsali either @ the dry end of the shower or on a perch where you can be observed but Tsali stays relatively dry. I did this for a while with Gracie & eventually she had to join in & in the meantime the humidity in the room was good for her to be in anyway. Granted you won't be taking a shower alone much after that but it may work

I know, I will eventually. I just usually don't bring my phone in for shower time because she likes to flap, and phones and water just don't mix well. Maybe I'll get some assistance next time she gets a shower. Of course, then it will be all play and no naps.

I have the same debate about my senegal. I have to change his water out a half dozen times a day because he takes baths in his water dish that often. Even if he's just gotten out of the shower.
