Today we went to the bird mart just to check things out. There were MANY different parrot there. I got to say it was quite amazing. There was so many amazons there! You know I most of the breeders there tell me " oh they were hand fed but havent been handled much so they tend to bite.... BUT they are still very young and can be taught to be handled"

To be honest yes, the price for these birds there were quite affordable but I do not think I will get a parrot at a bird mart.. My dad almost bought a rose breasted cockatoo that was 6 years old. I felt really bad for the bird, he seemed a tad bit overweight and looks like he was on seeds .. I did not see any pellets in his food.

Also I saw a BEAUTIFUL mini macaw and double yellow head amazon. The guy told me they are babies.. but I do not think so. I showed my friend a pic of the birds she is very experienced with birds, and she said their feet looks more like older birds than baby..

SO IN CONCLUSION I feel that yes it is really nice going to a bird mart but I don't think I will get a bird there because I feel that some of these breeders are just breeding them to sell and does not even bother to handle them ... Also some breeders lie just so they can sell the birds...

I am glad I go Bella at the pet store because she was hand fed and was often handled by the employee and she learned how to step up. I tried to get those baby red head to step up but they were very nippy and scared... =[

I must be honest tho... I was very tempted in bring home that rosey :54::54:

Yeah i agree with you, that rosie (we call them galahs in Australia) was very cute and looked quite tame and content sitting on that mans hand. :D

Let's all chip in and buy a big property and then buy all the birds!

hahah totally!! I was "told" that the galah was very shy and is nippy because he is shy, yet when i asked the bird to step up he came to me immediately and did not even bite me. The breeder was saying how he was "surprised" that the galah didnt bite me and said he likes me. He said that the bird tried to bite numerous of people and honestly i dont know if he was saying that just because he wnted me to bring the bird home or if it was true. BUT i have to say it was because he was friendly that my dad was tempted to bring him home. hahah I had to say no bc Bella will be terribly jealous and I do not think it is fair for Bella :)
