He's all tuckered out, and sleeping but not before eating a meal fit for a king, some bday cake and a visit from Gail and Rickybird. And some pics, as requested .

The coolest thing was that Salty and the Ricky bird were definitely watching each other on skype. Maybe I can start a new business as a PPP..... a Parrot Party Planner.

Salty has grown into one very good looking young Amazon. I have to remind myself that yaaa, he is a near full grown Amazon and not the baby that we have grown to love over this last year!

Happy Birthday Salty!

We have to keep reminding ourselves that he is a yearling now , too. Although in the last 2 weeks or so, he has been reminding us himself. Just that little bit more adult Amazon calling ( though its so short a time, just 20-30 minutes or so in the afternoon), and more independence ( ie: I do NOT want to go to nite nite just now) that baby Salty never did. He is still an almost perfect parrot, compared to some I read about. My heart goes out to those folks whose birds bite, or scream, or pluck or decide they are ONE person birds. Those are one reason I offer up what we have done with Salty, so that maybe someone else can benefit by our scar tissue ( literally) and experience. Boats, Jim will tell you, when he came by with Amy, we were all surprised at how small an Amazon he is, literally 1/2 the size of Amy, yet he is full grown pretty much. He has weighed 265-272 almost from when we got him at 2 months old. He doesn't show that baby look in his eyes much anymore, but his personality is definitely expanding, like laughing at appropriate times, or doing a trick on his own, just to be cute. He's a one of one, but then again, all parrots are.

Glad you enjoyed a Great Birthday Salty...I loved the pics and your cake and the lovely toys you got and I loved the online pics also on Galeria Gila's scrapbook thread...Fab pics all of them snd the commentary on both pages Great too I almost felt I was there in person at the party ...sorry I missed the Zon and Patagonian chatter on skype all the same I would have really enjoyed hearing that.
You have done a wonderful job with Salty Al , you and Geri both and he is a credit to your Great paronting skills. Happy Birthday Salty and may the years to come be many and happy and healthy with each one being more fun than the last long long into your old Age
