We would like to put a collar on our rainbow lorikeet to take him for walks with us. Perhaps even something that goes around his body.

First of all, is this a good idea?

Secondly, where can we purchase them?

Thanks,

A collar would not work and would be VERY dangerous.

However there are many harnesses made for birds just for this purpose. The feather tether may be the most common but many members including myself have not been very pleased with this - it is secure and safe enough if you can get your bird to use it, but many birds can't stand it and it is a real pain to adjust and work with it.

The Aviator (The Parrot University Aviator Harness) has been highly recommended by many members and I am hoping to try it soon as well. You can see the discussion here: http://www.parrotforums.com/questions-answers/2141-flight-harnesses.html
