Best way to introduce?

Hello,

I haven't been here in a while but I'm back for some advice.

I have a 3 year old male (cin wf) named Skye and have a deposit down on a baby (pied wf) that's still with the breeder weaning. I've had the DNA sent out for sexing on the baby but it hasn't come back yet. We want a boy to avoid breeding issues entirely but we've already fell in love with this baby, so it won't matter what its sex is as far as us keeping it.

We got the baby because we wanted it, not just for a friend for Skye, so it'll be disappointing if they don't get along but we're prepared for it anyway.

After a period of quarantine, what's the best way to introduce the two of them?

It's super important that you keep them in totally separate places for the first 45 days minimum (3 months in separate air spaces is ideal, but it's hard). Quarantine is essential for the health of both birds (as many birds are asymptomatic carriers of diseases that breeders do not test for and they are more likely to shed viral particles during times of stress and transition). Impeccable hand-hygiene and changing clothes between handling birds is also advised.

EDIT- I missed "after the quarantine" when responding initially.

Some also suggest having them meet in a neutral space out of sight of their cages. if they think of their cage as their own, sometimes they are more inclined to defend or become aggressive around them.

Have you had them DNA sexed, because a male and a female may mate if they get along and that is a complicated process involving far more money, time and other potential health risks...I wouldn't let them mate if you are not experienced with hand-rearing, brooders, breeding etc. If the babies survive, then you have to worry about them in-breeding with each other and their own parents (which is very dangerous)..so you'd have to have a million cages (one for each baby, very supervised out-of-cage time due to mating etc)
