Looking on amazon.com for some new toys, and its a bit overwhelming! What toys do your birds like best?
Thanks!

I know how important foraging is, but was in the same boat as you. So i called My Safe Bird Store and talked to their customer service rep. REALLY helpful. She talked to me for a long time. Asked about my species of bird, his age, his personality, and a bunch of other stuff to make very tailor made recommendations of foraging toys my bird was most likely to enjoy. I was extremely impressed with the level of customer service i recieved.

I would give them a call to ask for advice. They were super knowledgeable and helpful. And the prices were great- the same or better then amazon, fosters and smith, and several other big box stores i checked

I just bought a whole bunch of foraging toys for my sun because she was so destructive and bored. It was the best thing ever! She absolutely loves her toys, mind you I do have to fill them all the time because she goes nuts and empties them with the day.

I did alot of research on the right foraging toys and I'm happy with what I purchased. I bought the foraging wheel (I fill with newspaper, bird safe kitty litter and treats), the long chain of cups (that I fill with newspaper shreds and treats) and I also have the windmill foraging toy that I put my pellets in. I thought she would takes days to figure these out but within a few hours she had figured how to get the treats out. But it certainly keeps her busy! The feeder is the best because she has to spin the wheel to release the food and there is a screw on top to make it harder to twist as they master the skill.

Some of these are on the my safe bird store and dr foster and smith website.

Foraging toys are great. They give your birds something to look forward to in the cage. These are some of the foragers I have in Boomer's cage:

This is the one he uses the most. I put a fragment of almond in each compartment everyday before I go to work. I never even have to put him in the cage, he just hurries over to the forager to get the nuts out.

This one I refill every week. I put a small amount few seeds, nuts and dried pepper. Then I stuff it with shredded brown paper and toothpicks so he has to work to get to the seeds:

This is my favorite. It's easy to refill. I also put 1 of two pistachio nuts in there. The rest with shredded paper:

I also have a hanging half coconut shell that I fill with shredded paper everyday with a few seeds in the bottom. He likes to rummage in there after eating wet food. Hope this gave you ideas. The first three I posted are really good, easy to clean and durable. Good luck on your choices!

I had looked at all 3 on amazon, but wasn't sure if they would be good for a GCC, so it's great to get a personal recommendation, even though Suns are bigger. Thanks!

The second and third one is good for a gcc. The first one probably not.

Hmm I don't use foragers like that! I just hide random things in the cage but I do plan to buy several of these for my new plucker boy coming home at the end of the month. Hopefully he'll find some of these suggestions more interesting then himself!

I got the second wheel for my gcc ,but if you use it for threats only their beaks are too small to really get them.
I had to watch my gcc trying to get a sunflower seed for hours
And they just coudn't get it.
I will try newspaper and such now, thanks.

I got the third one for my GCC and it wouldn't stop falling apart, the ball would unscrew and scare Burnzie, have you had this issue?

I have that third ball one for Kiwi and put her nutriberries in it - she can get to it if she works really hard, which is the point really.

I also take paper cupcake cups (the really cheap thin kind) and wrap up some of her favorite treats in it. The I poke little holes so she can smell what it is. I plop those in a bowl in her cage, or i stuff it in some toy. It's doubly satisfying because she gets to tear and shred, AND get her treats ^.^

If you have an old, shredded up toy that was skewered on a metal pole, you can also skewer these onto the skewer and hang it up in the cage.

Burnzie - mine used to do that too - just make sure when you screw it together that you have more screwing area on the outside than the inside, and give it a good hard twist. Mine doesn't fall apart anymore. hope that works for you too!

I got 2 of the 3rd one and my Sun and GC love it and they usually don't play with hanging toys in their cage.

I bought [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Super-Creations-5-Inch-Picnic-Basket/dp/B003HDTDD2"]this[/ame] for my GCC a week ago and he hasn't stopped digging through it since. You could easily make it yourself. It's a small basket with shredded paper, finger traps, and [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Super-Creations-Munch-Balls-24-Pack/dp/B000Q3XQ9S"]munch balls[/ame]. I hide treats in it as well.
