Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Salty has been raised on Roudybush pellets, but the local store is out, and so am I ! (Bad Daddy!! ) What is considered the top name brands of pellets for Amazons?

I feed my pionus Harrison's, but working on converting over to TOPs because I think the ingredients are more healthy (not sure if this will happen with little picky). Pis have similar dietary needs to Amazons. Don't get something that has over 14% min crude protein as this is hard on their kidneys. I think 11% protein is supposed to be optimal, but it's all so controversial. More fresh, less pellets is ideal.

Hope one of the diet gurus chimes in, I'm just a novice when it comes to good nutrition.

I've tried many brands over the years but my present birds seem to like zupreem the best..I've used it for a while and am satisfied with the results. Also, it is readily found in most shops.

Sorry if this comes across as flippant but its surely the ones they will eat? Minus any colours/bad stuff they shouldn't be eating. Just a thought, could you get by with fresh for a day or two less risk of upsetting the apple cart if set on Roudybush?

Found some Roudybush last nite. Salty always gets some fresh veggies and fruit, every day, but the pellets are his main food. And he always eats with us, so a piece or 2 of pasta , or bread or what every is bird safe at the dinner table. For the days when we arent eating a bird safe dinner ( ie pot roast and mash tatties) my wife always gets out some thing Salty loves. Last nite he also got some sweet potatoes ( which he adores).
