I bought the Parrot Training: A Guide to Taming and Gentling Your Avian Companion anyone here read this book

There are virtually hundreds of books to choose from. Just go to Amazon and do a quick search. :)

Unfortunately there aren't many 'recent' books that are macaw specific (as far as I know). So IMO read on forums as much as you can. You'll quickly find various opinions on various subjects, greatly aiding in the 'confusion' factor. :09:

As for training and/or taming parrots, there are numerous authors out there as well. Here's just one example for you:

I'll second Barbara. She also has some great DVDs. They look a bit dated, but the information is wonderful.

Have your circumstances changed since you made the below post?

I just want to ask a question are macaw good for apartments because I know they do make a lot of noise and need a lot of attention and I do have 3 jobs at the moment so I would not be home much at all is this a good idea buying a macaw or should I just get a smaller quieter bird like cockatiel?

How soon are you looking to get a big mac?
