1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
You guys, I am in love with these photos at OMSI with my very handsome and photogenic boy this morning:green: I even oiled his beak (coconut oil) so he would look his best lol. Kiwi is a very textbook a.xanthopteryx in coloration and this backdrop is his species to a ā€œTā€. I am so glad I got to do this with him today because my baby is literally due any time. Even though I donā€™t necessarily look 9 months pregnant, I am and Iā€™m not sure how many more days Iā€™d be up to doing this. The universe was working in our favor!

We went in before hours so there wasnā€™t people everywhere. Kiwi was a very good boy and while a little nervous at first to exit his POB inside the museum, he eventually got comfortable and we got some great shots. Iā€™m not sure anyone else on here lives in or will be visiting Portland, but if you do, Iā€™d definitely suggest seeing this exhibit if you can! It is AMAZING. The exhibit is called ā€œExquisite Creaturesā€ and the work of Christopher Marley. Itā€™s beautifully and artistically preserved specimens of animals that died of natural causes and insects. Itā€™s also only up until February. ***They donā€™t generally allow pets in FYI, this was a special arrangement, so definitely not recommended to bring your bird along if you do go;)***

Some fun ones:

And saving perhaps the best for last- the open wing shots, which came out surprisingly good for being taken on an iPhone and not a professional camera! Kiwi does not just open his wings on command (I wish!). I was getting him to do a downward flap to get the wings open:

Truly Magnificat!!!
I was guessing that the Photo would be this presentation and was wowed at the Photo's you have of the session.
Hmm, me think that your Artful Mind had lead to to select what you are wearing as you blending into the feathers appear in several photos to have one believe that they are naturally yours.
Kiwi's Wing spread (as you pointed out) is a very near match to the back drop and you are so correct regarding his ability to being a Nominate of the Species.

Anyone else on hand to take pictures?
Guessing the Photographer is Kiwi's favorite Guy!

What a Great Family outing. Way to go Kiwi and Family!!!

April, these pictures are absolutely stunning!! WOW!
You and Kiwi both look amazing, I can't even put into words how much I love these.
You should to have these blown up and on your walls, they really are breathtaking.

Mama Blue Front and her boy...how cool is that?!

I did indeed wear the green sweater because it was green and also still fits lol. I wish that I could have gotten a photo that really showed off how close those wings are. He too has yellow and red on top and a lot of it! Joe was unavailable to come along, the photos were taken by the guy who reached out to me from the museum and coordinated me being able to bring him him. Kiwi quite enjoyed his trip out and I always find him an amusing companion to bring along.

OMSI= Oregon Museum of Science and industry. Probably should have included a link- https://omsi.edu/exquisite-creatures

The exhibit has this photo backdrop for adults and a shorter one of butterfly wings for kids. Preserved parrot specimens on display are green wing, scarlet and hyacinth macaw wing/tails displayed similarly to the photo of the blue front. The rest of the exhibit features other birds, reptiles, fish, insects etc... It would be amazing if there was a display of just various parrot photos blown up this big!

Super Duper Thank You forposting these pics. Amazing art, and an amazing parront and an amazing parrot. What a great opportunity, and Kiwi nailed it.

He really did nail it. As mentioned, I tried to dress to blend in so he would stand out since he was the star of these photos. I was just a propšŸ˜‚ A giant BFA photo backdrop, it was really a once in a lifetime opportunity to get pics of him in front of!
