Blue and gold macaw named Bill he's about 38 years old.
I'm looking for some advice, I have a blue and gold macaw named Bill. We've had him for several years now and he's about 38 years old he's always been kinda grouchy with some people. But with me I've always been able to hold him and put him outside we jam out and dance to music he walks down the hall to me and allows me to pick him up from the floor. But now all of a sudden he's very aggressive and mad even to me and that's not like him at all. I'm not sure if it's because a food change or something different.

welcome to the forum. I'm sure some members will be along to offer great advice.
We have all had times we have to rebuild a relationship with our birds. Taking time to do observation, think through any changes, or stressors in tge home or directly with the bird

Personality changes occur for a variety of reasons, but with an older bird in stable environment, you'd have to consider potential health issues. What sort of food change? Hopefully this is something you can pinpoint and correct or adapt.

I would get him in for a solid checkup with a certified avian veternarian. It is very possible something is causing him physical pain.

Or as Scott and Laura talked about, it could be related to the diet or other change in the environment or etc.

How recently and suddenly did this happen? Could it be related to changes in routine or mood related to the covid situation? Birds are very perceptive, and he could be reacting to the people in his life's stress levels.

Think hard about any changes, that and a trip to the vet are likely the best places to start.
