Behavioral training of baby Alex?

I have got 2 baby alexandrine who are still very young (I dont know exact weeks, but for reference, their wings have turned fully green.). They are doing extremely well on physical front but I have no knowledge on what kind of and how much interaction I need to engage with them so they turn up smart and social. Help me with it.

So far I have been touching and petting them so they get used to it. And I also talk to them very frequently. (I can spend a lot of time on them so help me know what I should do.)

Congratulations on the new pets!

While more discription is needed to know their age, with what you have mentioned they seem to be too young for now.

It's good that you are spending time with them. This is a must if you want them to have a good behavioural pattern in the future. But I suggest you to not be over excited and not expect them to do things too much too early.
Keep talking to them all through out something like a good morning or asking them of their health or how was their day or if they were hungry . Even if they don't respond at the start, they will know that you are trying to communicate and with time they will do the same.

I would like to add something here with my experience.





As many have pointed out and I've realized - Alex's take their time to trust you. No matter how young you pick them up. Once they trust you, they interact with you like a human being and it's a treat.



Spend as much time as you can. Eventually you will realize that your bird is ready to receive training. Do not force it on the bird.

Welcome to the forum. Which part of India are you from?

Hope you are aware the Alexandrines are illegal to buy, sell ,breed or trade in India.
Nevertheless now that you have them , you have to take good care of them so you have come to the right place to learn.

Hope you will be able to take good care of your birds. But two fledgelings removed from the wild is still two birds who could have played their ecological role have been plucked out.

Please report such traders to the Forest department or the Police henceforth.

Alex's have long disappeared from the wild in Pakistan. Thanks to captive breeding, their numbers have gone up.
