Hong Kong
Parrots
Hoping to adopt after chinese new year. As starter considering cockatiel or rainbow amazon....
Dear all parrots lover,

I live in Hong KONG, I'm a mum of 2 and being waiting for mum to adopt my first Bird.
Now we are almost ready to welcome it. As we will coming back from our Holiday after the first week of February.
So far I have no idea where to find y precious though I have been looking around for month but wasn't able to find.

I would like to adopt to start with either a rainbow amazon, indian ringneck or a cockatiel.
I wish to be able to find it baby or really young and of course healthy.

So if you have any advice for me on where in hong kong I could get one.
What do know before selecting the bird?
Which book should I get?

Anything I would need to know before adoption please share it with me I would really appreciate it!

Cheers:rainbow1::grey::green::orange::yellow1:

Hello Ziggy, welcome to birddom/parrotdom.....

There is a very large bird mart on Hong Lok St., in Kowloon district. There is also the
Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, where owners bring their birds to display. It has been about 5 years since I was last in HK, but I might be inclined to go to both places before any purchase, then find a pet store near your home.

You don't give the age of your children, so I might be inclined to suggest a cockatiel as the lesser of 3 evils regarding bites. Males are usually the talkers, whistlers and/or singers in 'tiels.

I have never owned a ringneck or an Amazon, so can't offer any information there, but someone will chime in with good info in not too long.

The street bird doesn't exist anymore. I can find bird in the Bird market but honestly they are being kept so badly around 20 to 30 bird per cages.
Not sure of their health, age and never been handle by hand ....
So I'm not to keen to take it from their.....

You are quite right about the bird market, I found the bird garden to have had much better quality birds.

Have you inquired at any pet stores? I just did a quick internet search from here and came up with this possibility:

BIRDS & BIRD SUPPLIES in Hong Kong - 1

Each entry has location and/or contact info under its name...

Here is a information link to Hong Kong Veterinary surgeons:

Maybe the above will be of some help...

Again, good luck
