I'd love to hear your experiences.

Mine would be before I had a parrot I thought I knew what giving something else attention meant!

And...

Before I had a parrot I thought I knew that dropping food on the floor meant "I don't like that" , not "I don't like that at that temperature, that size, in that bowl, in that place, with that other thing, at this time of the day, but if you get all that right it's my FAVOURITE!!! " !

I thought I knew how much work feeding them properly would be

I thought I knew who would be good bird sitters

I thought I knew how much mess they would make

I thought I knew I could handle the noise

I thought I knew how much money they would cost to maintain! - funny that... maintenance cost has been the #1 reason I have decided AGAINST several other exotic pets.

I thought vacuuming 3 x per week to get rid of my German Shepherd's shedding hair was a lot.

I thought I was a good cook.

I thought I had a huge threshold for pain.

I thought my patience has a limit. I'm finding out that patience grows and grows and stretches into many directions and probably doesn't have a limit at all.

I thought I had a messy house.
