Beak growth

How often to you have to get your caique's beak filed down? Walter's beak was snipped when we got him in January, and it's already grown a good 1/4 inch in the past 2 months. Looks like he could become a can opener for us right now.

Walter doesn't like to chew wood, or anything else or that matter.

Mine all wear at different rates, ( I have 8), even they all have access to wood for chewing. I take them to the vet about once a year for a proper beak/nail trim and blood panel
