I'm new to Greys, but I do have a gw macaw. My question is, it seems as though it takes a lot of water to really drench my Grey, much more than my macaw. The water just beads off the Grey. Is this true of all Greys?

It's true for mine, whenever Kenji takes a bath the water beads off. I put a bowl at the bottom of his cage that he bathes in and even then he still doesn't seem to get wet! lol

For kenji it removes his current layer of feather dust, then he quickly replaces it with new clean dust.

I use one of these on Tookie, and he loves it. I put pretty warm water in it, as it will come out misted fairly cool. He'll hang on the side of his cage and let me soak him down. But just like a kid, he doesnt like getting his face washed most of the time. He's such a ham.

Yep. And they also go trough a HUGE display of water gymnastics and end up with only half a wet face and nothing else -LOL
