I have a Green Cheek Conure named Ben. He just turned one on April 15th and I have had he since he was 7 months old. The problem is no matter what I do he won't take a bath. I have tried putting him in a bird bath, a sink with a light stream of water, and spraying him with a water bottle. His bird instincts to clean himself don't kick in when he is wet. Does anyone know what I may be able to do???????

Turn on the shower, stick him under the water, leave him there until he is soaking wet. If you soak him, he gets wet. If he gets wet. He gets clean.

What is it that you expect him to do in a bath?

If he sits there on your finger while the water is flowing on him, he is bathing.

I know I do that but he is the only bird I've had that doesn't use his beak and clean himself when the water is running.

My GCC absolutely loves bathing and will splash around in the water until absolutely soaked. However, I have never seen him preen himself while his feathers are wet. In fact, he actively dislikes being touched at all when wet.

Don't worry about it. As long as he bathes, he'll be fine.
