Echo a male B&G Macaw
Ive found out that Echo loves to eat apples, bananas, and oranges. When ever Im eating them near him he just has to come over and have a bite,he does that with all the food Im eating lol.
If you want to feed your macaw these fruits make sure to wash them really really really good! You'll also have to remove the seeds from the apple because they can kill and remember not to let it eat to much orange because its acidic.Heres a picture of Echo enjoying an orange slice.:)

GREAT picture of Echo and his orange slice. :D

Yup, many birds are like "monkey see..monkey do". :) And it's a great way of teaching them to eat new foods, too.

(Here's a little funny: I HATE bananas! So much so I gag when I smell them. BUT, they are SO healthy for the fids, so I bite the bullet and actually cut up pieces for them, while holding my nose :54:)

My birds always want what I'm eating, too! Lol

Great pic! My 6 year old gives Quincy orange juice. Small amounts of course!

Thanks guys!

Awww I bet thats really adorable to watch :) The pervious owner of Echo had several little kids, but she said he scared the kids which I can understand.

I live in Fl and my mother has banana trees in her yard. When Willis T. my CAG was young he liked bananas but only if I bought them at the grocery store. When I got my GW he would not eat bananas free or store bought .My CAG stopped eating bananas shortly after I got my GW . When I got my Harlequin back in August I tried again, nobody eats bananas but me. They all eat apples but only Granny Smith and only my Harlequin will eat oranges. Tough crowd.

Hmmm thats interesting.Have you tried dried bananas?Echo seems to like dried ones better then fresh.

I've been really lucky with Fregley, he's a fantastic eater and will munch anything put in front of him.
He gets bananas, apples, pears, melon, red grapes, black grapes, green grapes, strawberries, raspberries, sweet pepper, sugarsnap peas, baby sweetcorn, carrots and plums daily then occasionally asparagus, satsumas, cherries ( pitted ), broccolli, cauliflower and chilli peppers.

He'll try anything new and I haven't found anything he doesn't like yet!!

He's straight over if I'm eating anything, he'll say "Hello, is that good?" then tries to steal what I've got, I've always got a little something for him to stop him taking my food though :D

Dried bananas are the only kind Hahnzel will eat. He prefers the peel over the fruit, although thats more to shred it while I try to eat the fruit.

Lucy my B&G doesn't want to try new food unless you let her take a piece "out" of your mouth first. After that she will eat it all on her own. We couldn't get her to eat fruit or veggies. So my wife came up with that idea of putting a piece on her lips and letting her take it off her lips. Now she eats the ones we did that with. That does exclude mozzeralla cheese sticks though. She has been obsessed with those since the first time I cooked them after she came home. If she sees you eating those she will land in your lap, be your best friend snuggling and everything. Then the moment your not looking at your cheese stick she starts eating it lol.

Be very careful with the grapes and strawberries! They get alot of pesticide put on them and it gets in the fruit. Its best only to feed strawberries like once a week or less because of this.

Today Echo stole some of my lasagna why I wasn't looking! What a naughty bird lol.

LOL My birds love Oranges and Grapes, Bananas and Apples are a sometime thing and black, blue and raspberries ae enjoyed but prefer the Grapes above all else. but they their least favorite is strawberry but if nothing else is available that can get it too LOL They eat more fruit than veggies, is this ok? They eat pellets and few veggies here and there.

We grow most of our own fruit and veg so we know all of this is safe but I give everything a wash anyway, I get a solution off Amazon called "Veggie wash and fruit too" it's great just make sure you rinse thoroughly.
I use it on everything, even bananas and melon before I open them.
Thanks for the advice though :)
Forgot to mention he also loves pineapple, mango, papaya, coconut and palm nuts lol!

Haha, they're sooo cheeky when there's food around, Freg stole a piece of fishcake off me once, he loved it. I gave him a small boiled potato yesterday ( unsalted ) and he spent ages savouring that then decided he wanted to mash some all over his cage

my sweet little carmen turns crackers for a bit of my childrens banana and porridge in the morning she sqwauks like crazy till they share

Sunshine snagged some Rice Chex from my cereal bowl this morning. First time she's tried something without bribery, so I need to take advantage of that. :)

I have gotten her to eat dried bananas. (I have to break them up into smaller pieces, first). I haven't gotten her to try any fresh fruit, though, yet. (Although she likes throwing peaches onto the floor, now. Progress?)
