SassyByrd (DYH Amazon) JoJo (GCC) Betty (GCC) DEARLY LOVED fids lost to “Teflon Disaster 12/17 RIP Pickles (GC),RIP Winston (Sun), RIP Lady PLEASE TAKE 5 MINUTES &TOSS OUT ALL YOUR TEFLON NOW!
The backstabbing reference is a joke, kind of. SassyByrd has chosen my husband. I feel slightly betrayed, but also grateful and amused. My poor hubby has had the year from hell. His cancer came back, he lost his entire leg and is now having to deal with all of the bull sh*t like phantom nerve pain, cancer treatment, etc. And to top all of this off our house flooded so we are living and working in 2 rooms well our walls and floors are torn apart and replaced (it's going on 3 months now). Since all of our business equipment is in the bird room, the birds are out with us literally all of the time. SassyByrd now climbs down her "house" and marches straight to my husband, climbs up his wheelchair and just loves on him. If I need to retrieve her for him she tries to nail me (I never thought I could love a wooden dowel so much). I guess my feeling are a little hurt, but really I am grateful as he needs to feel special right now, and she is the one soul in our home who is making it her life's goal to do so. I am also somewhat amused, as I am the person who does EVERYTHING for her. I am the only one who feeds her, gives her treats, toys, whatever she needs. The only time he gives her treats is when I place one in his hand and provide instructions!

Don't get me wrong, she still loves me and wants to spend time with me. Its more like when she has a clear cut choice of people there is no doubt who she prefers. And even if she didn't I would still love her just as much. Its kind of like a kid who prefers one parent. It doesn't change how much the other parent loves their child. Hopefully Sass and I can stay great friends as I would hate to lose that!

You and my brother David have a lot in common! at least in the birdy department. When I'm not around,or should I say,not in view,BB will go to David, run up his arm and sing his heart out and give kissys,BUT the instant BB see's or hears my voice,David is nothing but a piece of burnt toast to BB  :p and it aggro's David and starts calling BB....ummmmm.."words" lol.

Maybe BB is getting David back for me...his stooopit cat hisses at me anytime she see's me,and I was the one that brought the dumb kitty to him almost sixteen years ago!

Sorry you have had do many challenges, and that your husband has to fight do hard for his health.
I'm glad Sassy is giving him extra sttey, and I hope she doesn't forget you and all you do for her!

Yup - I have a cockatiel that has eyes only for my husband. I do all the feeding, cleaning and care....and he gets all the love :). She will step up for me, but complains the whole time (and makes me grateful that she has a little, tiny beak).

Oh boy do I know how you feel. My Sam was very close to my late husband, and when he passed away Sam was quite upset for a long while. Then, he became much closer to me. When I met my second husband, he was pretty indifferent to him. Well now, he LOVES Roger. He looks to him all the time, and I am only the transportation for him to get to Roger. I call him Judas. I also do everything for Sam, but he only wants to sit on Roger's lap and fall asleep to scratches. Oh well, at least he likes someone! LOL
