Phoenix the Scarlet Macaw
Hey Everyone!

So just figured I would post to show you my quickly growing 11 week old Scarlet Macaw baby.

Phoenix is learning so fast and growing so quick it's amazing! He already knows step up, step down, gentle. He's never tried to bite as of yet and is learning to be gentle with both beak and claws. He's trying to fly already but not much luck yet :p

On Tuesday we're going to go get DNA tested so I'll know for sure then if it's a girl or boy, I'm so excited!

What a sweet little guy and he's such a pretty bird! I love the pic of him lying in bed :) Congrats on your great progress with him.

What a gorgeous baby! Let us know when you get your dna report!

Just gorgeous!!!

Congrats on your new baby. Please post the sex of your Scarlet. They are beautiful birds. You're smart to train them to be gentle. Scarlets are known to be a bit nippy as they mature so it's important to stay on top of this at a young age so you don't have this issue later. Best of luck with your new baby Joe

Thanks Everyone! I will keep you posted on the DNA results.

Yes he is very sweet and lovable, he's not nippy at all as of yet and we will keep working daily on that so he doesn't get to be nippy. It helps that I've been bitten by birds before and I'm still not scared so he always takes my finger into his mouth and if he gets rough he gets punished (I never hurt him though)

Very gorgeous baby you have. I have had my eye on a catalina Macaw that is up for adoption in my area.

ooo I don't know much about Catalina Macaw's but good luck!

Well the DNA test was a success and didn't stress Phoenix out too much, now just to wait for the results to come back.

What a super cutie! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your pretty Phoenix!

And now the waiting begins to find out what sex (s)he is ;)

You betcha! I'm kind of hoping for a boy since that way I won't have to deal with eggs and the fact that since I got Phoenix I've been calling it a him :p

It shouldn't be too long. They said a week at the most and I should get a phone call

Awwwww, sounds like Phoenix is fitting in well, can't wait to hear if Phoenix is a boy...either way I am sure you will be happy just to know. I love the name Phoenix, could go for a girl or boy?
